What is Clean Core?

SAP Clean Core is the principle of keeping the SAP standard (the "core") untouched — using only approved extension technologies, standard integration APIs, and industry process standards. A clean core programme can upgrade from S/4HANA On-Premise to S/4HANA Cloud (RISE) with minimal rework. A "dirty" core with classic modifications becomes extremely costly to migrate.

Ontology — why your score moved

Every Clean Core criterion is a node in the SAP extensibility ontology with a tiered remediation path (Tier 1 = SAP-recommended target state, Tier 4 = legacy / dirty-core pattern). The composite score is the weighted roll-up of where each criterion currently sits on its tier ladder.
